Holmes Jr., a 6-foot-2 southpaw from Flint, MI, will face off against Wendy Toussaint (14-1, 6 KOs), of Huntington, Long Island, NY, with the vacant IBF USBA 154lb. title at stake. The bout will serve as the co-feature to Claressa Shields’ homecoming middleweight world title defense against Maricela Cornejo. Holmes Jr. weighed in at 153.4 lbs., while Toussaint hit the scales at 149.8 lbs. The event starts on DAZN at 9:00pm ET / 6:00pm PT. In his last fight, on February 17, 2023, Holmes Jr. headlined Showtime’s “ShoBox” series for the second time, facing the unbeaten Ismael Villarreal (12-0) in a 10-round contest at Stormont Vail Event Center, in Topeka, KS. Holmes Jr. used his jab and superior footwork to outbox the shorter Villarreal throughout the bout. Whenever Villarreal tried to bully his way in close, Holmes Jr. either tied him up or was ready with a powerful uppercut. Earning the decision victory, Holmes Jr. outlanded Villarreal 50 to 8 in jabs and 422 to 269 in overall punches. Coming from a boxing family, Ardreal was taught how to fight by his father at age 11. Accumulating an amateur record of 85-14, Holmes Jr. was a four-time Michigan Golden Gloves champion. He won a gold medal at the 2015 US National Championships, silver at the 2015 US Olympic Trials and 2013 National Golden Gloves Championships, and bronze at the 2015 National Golden Gloves, 2015 Ringside World Tournament, and 2013 World Golden Gloves Tournament.
