Tune in TONIGHT at 10:30pm ET to catch Kali “KO Mequinonoag” Reis and Kandi “Krush” Wyatt vie for the vacant WBA super lightweight world title, headlining IMPACT Championship Boxing, presented by the IMPACT Network, in conjunction with SMH Group, and brought to you by T&K Boxing Promotions in association with DiBella Entertainment. The exciting event took place at the St. Petersburg Clearwater Marriott, in St. Petersburg, FL.
A victory in the IMPACT Network main event not only crowns a new champion, but also sets up the winner with possible unification matches against IBF champion Mary McGee or WBO champion Christina Linardatou. Reis, of Providence, RI, previously held the WBC middleweight world title in 2016. Her nickname, “KO Mequinonoag”, which means “many feathers, many talents”, represents her Native American heritage, of which she is part Cherokee, Nipmuc, and Seaconke Wampanoag. Promoted by Michael Short’s Dekada Promotions, Wyatt, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, first challenged for a world title in March 2019, facing Linardatou for the WBO world female super lightweight crown.
On the undercard, rising super middleweight prospect Isaiah “Zwop” Steen, of Cleveland, OH, faces hard-hitting Colombian Juan De Angel, from Barranquilla, in a six-round contest. Co-promoted by DiBella Entertainment and Holden Productions, and managed by Split-T Management, Steen is the half-brother of super welterweight contender Charles Conwell. He is trained by Otha Jones and Roshawn Jones.
Elvis Garcia clashes with Dell Long, of Artie, WV, in heavyweight slugfest, scheduled for six rounds. Born in Mexico, now living in Indio, CA, trained by Joel Diaz, Garcia recently gained invaluable experience working as the “secret weapon sparring partner” that promoter Eddie Hearn referred to during Anthony Joshua’s training camp for his rematch against Andy Ruiz last year. Prior to turning pro, Garcia was an outstanding amateur with a record of 85-10, and 42 KOs.
Competing in his second professional bout, heavyweight prospect Jeremiah Milton, originally from Tulsa, OK, now based in Las Vegas, NV, faces Bahamian D’Angelo Swaby in a four-round bout. As an amateur, Milton was a super heavyweight silver medalist at the 2019 US Olympic Trials.
